Photobioreactor 435nm — closed life support system
Project description
Development of a key element of a closed biological life support system for orbital and lunar stations — a photobioreactor based on microalgae. The technology has wide potential for commercial applications, from providing closed-loop life support in space to air purification and carbon dioxide recycling in residential and office spaces or in industry.
Target outcome
Development of a closed biological life support system for lunar bases and deep space missions. The system is based on microalgae capable of converting CO₂ into oxygen, purifying water and producing valuable biomaterials.
Stage
Functional prototypes are undergoing pilot tests in the laboratory. The study of the efficiency of co₂ absorption, oxygen generation, biomass production and water filtration. Development of a new prototype for human testing and pilot implementation.
