Frontiers of Science Guild launches scholarship program at Moscow State University Traffic Police

The P.K.Sternberg State Astronomical Institute (GAISH) is a scientific research institution within the Moscow State University.Lomonosov University, which is a scientific base for the training of scientists and astronomers of a wide profile. The Moscow State University Traffic Police was established in 1931 on the basis of the Astronomical Observatory of Moscow University, the Astronomical and Geodetic Institute of Moscow State University and the Astrophysical Institute of the People's Commissariat of Education. The research is both fundamental and applied in nature. To date, 127 students and 21 graduate students study at the Astronomical department of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, and all of them take part in scientific work carried out in the departments and laboratories of the Traffic police.
The purpose of the cooperation between the Frontiers of Science Guild and the Traffic Police is to support talented young scientists engaged in scientific projects and research in the field of astrophysics, in particular, research on gravity, dark matter and dark energy. The monthly scholarship amount for junior courses (1-3) will range from 3 to 6 thousand rubles, depending on the average score per session, for senior courses (4-6) — 15 thousand rubles, for graduate students — 20 thousand rubles.
The recipients of the scholarship in the spring semester of 2025 will be 11 first-year students. Students and graduate students will be able to apply for a scholarship and track its status using the Campus application, a portfolio investment project of the Frontiers of Science Guild.
"The research and projects of students and postgraduates of the Moscow State University Traffic Police are able to contribute to the development of fundamental science, which should become the basis for new inventions and technologies. At the Frontiers of Science Guild, one of our main strategic objectives is to develop scientific human resources in Russia. I am glad to have the opportunity to provide financial support to students and postgraduates, as we want to create a new incentive to study better and devote more time to science," said Ilya Chekh, founder of the Frontiers of Science Guild.
"Financial support from the Frontiers of Science Guild for talented young people at the Moscow State University Traffic Police will allow our students and postgraduates to fully engage in exactly what they planned when they entered the astronomy department and then came to the traffic police laboratories: gaining new knowledge, gaining experience in scientific research and solving the mysteries of the universe," he noted. Alexander Belinsky, Deputy Director of the Moscow State University Traffic Police Department for Science and Long-term Development.

The Frontiers of Science Guild cooperates with the Moscow State University Traffic Police in other areas. One of the Guild's flagship projects is the creation and installation of a laser complex at the Kislovodsk Mountain Observatory in partnership with a research institution. The complex will be used for lunar location and research in the field of gravitational waves, and will also help solve applied problems in the interests of coordinate, time and navigation support.
