Frontiers of Science Guild supports regional participants of the Summer Astronomical School-2025

From
June 25 to July 12, 2025, at the P.L. Kapitsa Phystech Lyceum campus in
Dolgoprudny will host the Summer Astronomical School (LAS). For the fourth time
, the organizers are gathering students in grades 7-10 who have shown themselves in
astronomical Olympiads or have successfully passed the selection process. A total of
151 people will participate this year.
The Frontiers of Science Guild has allocated 20 grants of 25 thousand rubles each for partial
tuition fees. The support is addressed to schoolchildren from all regions of Russia, except
Moscow, Moscow region, St. PetersburgSt. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
This solution
is designed to enable talented
children who do not have access to strong teachers
and modern laboratories at home to receive education at the same level as their peers
from the central regions.
As noted by Vyacheslav Ignatiev, the academic and scientific director of the Astroschool:
Most of the current academicians and fellow members are people who were born far from Moscow., Moscow region or in the Leningrad region. There are many very smart and brilliant children in the regions, they just often have other opportunities. Our task is to help these students realize themselves.
The candidates
were strictly selected: they solved the tasks proposed by the organizers, or
confirmed their high results at astronomical Olympiads. This approach
ensures that participants know the basics of astronomy, physics, and mathematics, which
means that learning will be comfortable for both students and teachers.
Past
graduates of the LASH include winners and prize—winners of the All-Russian Olympiad
of Students in Astronomy, other specialized Olympiads and scientific competitions.
Today they are already students of the country's leading universities: Moscow State University, MIPT, MEPhI.
The classes
will be conducted by experienced astronomers and teachers, many of whom are members of the central
subject and methodological commission.
VSOSH on astronomy. Among them:
- Vyacheslav Borisovich Ignatiev — Chairman of the Central Committee of the Higher School of Astronomy, lecturer at the Phystech Lyceum;
- Michael Vladimirovich Kuznetsov — the leading programmer of the traffic police of Moscow State University, a member of the CPMC;
- Vladimir Sergeevich Goradzhanov — postgraduate student at the Moscow State University Traffic Police;
- Anastasia Andreevna Avtayeva is an engineer at the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the CPMC.
In total
, more than 30 teachers and 10 lecturers are involved in the implementation of the program.
Vyacheslav
Ignatiev emphasized the uniqueness of astronomy:
Astronomy is an amazing science. On the one hand, it is tightly intertwined with physics, mathematics, chemistry, and now with AI technologies. On the other hand, it constantly requires going beyond the boundaries of the idea of normal conditions, beyond the boundaries of understanding time and space. Due to the desire to go beyond current knowledge , many scientific discoveries have been made.
Founder
Ilya Cech of the Frontiers of Science Guild commented on the school's support:
The main tasks of the Guild are to support basic scientific research and applied technologies for space exploration. Our strategy extends over 200 years. It is important to unlock human potential, find talented young people and give them the opportunity to prove themselves. In five, ten, or twenty years, participants in the Summer Astronomy School may become prominent scientists or inventors, which is why we are pleased to be able to provide them with grants to partially pay for their studies at the LASH.
