Asterion Astronomical Club: how Karelia looks at the sky
Since 2008, Asterion has been the only center for the popularization of astronomy in Karelia. The club unites Petrozavodsk residents who are passionate about the sky and everyone who is close to science, from first—graders to adult listeners from different regions. Over the years, the team has built a full-fledged ecosystem of educational activities:
Online general Astronomy Circle with no age restrictions ‑ the course is taught by professional astronomers and specialists with physics and astronomy education.
Sidewalk and off-site observations in Petrozavodsk and the surrounding area: from the moon and planets to clusters, nebulae and galaxies. The club's arsenal includes Sky—Watcher 200 mm HEQ5, Sky‑Watcher 80 ED, SkyWatcher Dob 16" Retractable, Maxvision 127ED APO EXOS‑2 GOTO, Coronado SM60T BF10, Seestar S50.
Astronomy lessons in Petrozavodsk and Prionezhsky district schools: approximately 20 schools and an average of 30 classes per academic year — for junior and senior grades.
Popular science lectures in Petrozavodsk and beyond.
The aim of the project is to increase the number of people involved in science, and especially in astronomy, in Karelia and beyond. The next step is to expand the geography of club events to the regions of the whole republic.

Funding is provided to expand the geography of field observations in the regions of Karelia, upgrade and maintain telescopes and related equipment, cover transportation costs and support online courses and school programs.
