Astronomical Canaries: a star trek to Tenerife with the Astroverts

"Astroverts" invite you to an astronomical trip to Tenerife island. The Astronomical Canaries tour will be held from 16 to 23 August 2026.
This is a trip for those who want to see one of the best places in the world to observe the starry sky, rise above the clouds, visit volcanic landscapes and try astrophotography in a clear ocean sky.
Tenerife is an island for stargazing
Tenerife is considered one of the best destinations for astronomical travel. The famous Teide Observatory is located here, high above the clouds, and the volcanic plateaus and clear skies over the Atlantic create excellent conditions for observations and astrophotography.
Within a week, the participants will climb to the national park Teide will see sunsets above the clouds, observe the night sky through telescopes and photograph the Milky Way among the lava rocks.
What awaits the participants of the tour
The travel program combines astronomy, nature and the atmosphere of the Canary Islands.
Participants are expected to:
- visit to the Teide Observatory area;
- ascent to Teide National Park;
- a funicular ride to an altitude of 3,500 meters;
- night sky observations with telescopes;
- workshops on astrophotography and observations;
- shooting the Milky Way among volcanic landscapes;
- sunsets over clouds;
- walking in ancient Canary towns;
- natural lava pools;
- The Mask Gorge;
- tropical forests of the Anaga Nature Park;
- The capital is Santa Cruz de Tenerife;
- beaches with sand from the Sahara;
- viewing platforms with views of the island;
- time to relax by the ocean.
Travel around the island will be organized by rented cars. Tenerife has high-quality asphalt and dirt roads, which makes it convenient to get to nature parks, observation decks and observation sites.

The main feature of the tour is the combination of the starry sky and the unusual nature of the Canary Islands. During the day, participants will explore volcanic plateaus, lava landscapes, mountain serpentines, ancient cities and the Atlantic coast. In the evening, observe the sky and practice astrophotography.
The program also includes walks in the Anaga Nature Park, trips to viewing platforms, visits to Canary villages, beaches and places with panoramic views of the island.
Accommodation is planned at the Ona Alborada Hotel on the first line. The hotel's pool has seawater and direct access to the ocean.

Stanislav Korotky is the scientific director of the Ka-Dar and Astroverts observatories, the discoverer of asteroids and flares of New and Supernovae, popularizer of astronomy, lecturer, author and supervisor of more 100 astronomical expeditions around the world.
Ilya Smirnov is an astro, landscape and portrait photographer based in Tenerife. He knows the island well and its best locations for filming. Ilya is a winner of the Astrofest, National Geographic, FAAE astrophotography of Spain photo contests, a participant in exhibitions and a Pentax brand ambassador.
